Super Cute Desk Calendars

Here are the cutest darn calendars this side of the Mississippi. They are really small. And super cute. They're a little bigger than 5"x5" and they're sweet as pie. (and I'm not sure why I'm talking like a farmer)

There are two designs. One is packed full of my colorful and yummy Fruit's Gone Wild Series and the other packed full of the super sexy Intoxicating Series. They're beautiful. And totally cool. The Glamorous Pear

So here it is. The last of the Fruit's Gone Wild series. Bought by my bad-ass friend Carrie. This piece is done in a different style from the rest of the series and this is on purpose.... The style in which this pear is done is a sneak peek at where my creative journey is headed next. Think cool martinis, mixed up in classic steel shakers. Or maybe a glass of crisp, clean wine. Ooohhh la la... it's gonna be so much fun!

The Lonely Pear

 
Okay, I know, I know, enough about fruit already! But, for those of you who couldn't make it to my art opening last Friday, there were two surprise pieces that were unveiled the night of the show and it wouldn't be fair to you not to share. So, here's the first of the two: The Lonely Pear.

When I look at this lonely pear, it reminds me of times in my life when I felt like I was the only person in the world. But, I am thankful for these times because I think being alone teaches us a lot about life, and about ourselves. It teaches us confidence and we become to realize what we are capable of. This quote sums it up perfectly.

Inspired...

I love it when I inspire people! A local restaurant owner (Amanda - Coffee Creek Cafe) came to my shop today with a surprise gift. She said my art inspired her to get creative. Cool! She made these totally awesome necklaces from my art, as a gift for me and my girls. Aren't they lovely? I can hardly wait to show my girls. They are going to be stoked to wear these to school.

Anyway, I was super touched by Amanda's gesture and the necklaces are just as darling as she is. Be sure to stop by Coffee Creek Cafe in Creston to check out more of her cool creations and to eat some of her yummy home cooked food.

Surprise!

There will be two surprise pieces at my show this Friday. The first one is above and I'm only showing you a slice of it because I don't want to ruin the surprise. It is number 12 in my series and I'm so happy to have reached my goal of 12! I love it when I impress myself. I've grown quite attached to this piece since I created it last week because the subject reminds me of ME. And how I feel sometimes. You'll have to attend the show to view this piece and to read all about it.

I've had art show, art show, art show on my brain for the last three days. I eat, drink, and think, ART SHOW. It's totally consumed who I am. But it's pretty cool. Really fun. Completely fulfilling. I'd like to build up the hype a bit with my crowd, so I'm going to have a few surprises on my blog this week. The Kosher Grapes

  I've been on a grape kick throughout this series trying to pull off a good composition but struggling with it for whatever reason. I've forced myself to research grapes a bit to gain some inspiration and I'm actually pretty excited about my findings. As it turns out, wine made from Concord grapes (Kosher wine) has some extreme health benefits such as: lowering cholesterol, killing cancer cells, improving the effectiveness of radiation, preventing heart attacks and heart disease, slowing the progression of certain degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.... need I go on? Go get drunk! The doctor said it's kosher!

The Jazzy Papaya

I've been working like crazy trying to complete my Fruit's Gone Wild collection for my upcoming BITE ME art show on June 18th. I'm working hard to complete my series of twelve chalk pastel sketches, but I'm also working on a couple of surprise pieces that I won't unveil until the show. Yay! I'm so excited. I've always dreamed of having  an art show of my own and it's finally happening. Total awesomeness. But soooo much to get done. Speaking of getting stuff done, above is my latest edition to the Fruit's Gone Wild collection.

When I look at this papaya, I can actually imagine myself sitting on a patio somewhere tropical, with the sun warmly hitting my cheeks, cool drink in my hand, with the sound of trumpets, trombones and saxophones against the contrast of the tuba, being played in the background. I don't know why it reminds me of holidays, or tubas, for that matter, but it doesn't really matter. It's still a Jazzy little Papaya.
