Oh my goodness. I had such a wonderful response to my love story contest. I had a really hard time choosing a winner. There were so many of you that poured your heart out to me and I would like to announce a few runner-ups because I think your stories are worth sharing!
suzi "All the magic started in a little ice cream shop I worked at, he told me they served the flavor he liked! Don't know how he got past the hideous white and red striped uniform, or the fact that I was in university and he was still in high school. But he and all his wit and charm, managed to sit at the counter that first day, and after ordering a water, proceeded to tell me he would marry me some day...... funny thing was, I believed him! Three and a half years later we got married and the story ends pretty much like this: "They lived happily ever after"......19 years, 5 kids, lots of adventures, endless dreams, and love that only grows stronger with each year. Love is great!"
carrie "It was a warm summer night now in '95. Chris came to pick me up and said that he wanted to take me for a drive. He pulled into this little rest area by the dam. By this time I'm thinking what the heck, what are we doing here?? Chris told me to go sit on the grass with my eyes closed, then he came over with this wicker picnic basket and started to pull out all my favorite goodies(edibles that is!). We had a fabulous night. And then he pulls one my thing out of the basket and by this time it's dark so I couldn't see what he was doing but he proceeded to get on his knee and the next thing I remember is... me saying YES!! I am now fast forwarding thirteen and a half years. I come home from a exhausting day skiing, chaperoning and a freaky drive through a blizzard to find a clean house, lunches all packed, laundry done and a romantic meal waiting for me. We ate a kick ass meal and when it was done he told me the kids wrecked our new flat screen in the basement and I'm like are you for real. He insisted that I come down so he could show it to me...when we got to the basement he covered my eyes and led me down the hall to the spare room. I then got to see all the candles, the wicker picnic basket and all my favorite goodies inside. And that is all I can tell you about that night the rest was like....use your imagination!! Chris has often told me to get rid of that picnic basket, but I just can't seem to. It's apart of us and when I see that basket it brings back all those memories of our "firsts" "
mel "Went out with this guy my mom thought was "sweet!" Little did she know
that after our first date I swore I would never go out with him again!!
He bought a case of beer and thought he could get me drunk....not
happening! However, the next date happened as I was chosen at a high
school version of The Dating Game. Same guy again! He was a perfect
"gentleman" and very sweet this time and from then on! He is the best
thing that ever happened to me....37 years ago! Happy Valentine's Day!"
Thanks guys for your love stories. Beautiful.
Unfortunately, I had to pick only ONE winner...
ERIN!
WOWZERS.
After reading that, I got goosebumps. From head to toe. I knew she was the winner right away. That is a beautiful love story with a really happy ending. Erin now has a clean bill of health AND she married Lloyd this past summer. Congrats Erin on finding your better half and for being a fighter. I admire your strength. (Erin, drop me an email with the title of your favorite Fruit drawing. I'll hook you up with a totally glamerous 8x10 print. Matted in white. Oh ya baby!)
I am so happy that so many of YOU are happy. The love stories were awesome. Thank you for making my Valentine's Day special. Thanks you for sharing.
