For those of you that are loyal readers, you'll remember from last year that I made and sold calendars as a fundraiser for my kids' local elementary school. The project was called:
Anyway, when all was said and done, I was able to make an $1800 donation to the school (from the calendars sold) and with this money, they were able to apply for the Art Starts grant in which the money had the possibility of being matched.
We found out a couple of weeks ago that the school got the grant! Yay! So, what does that mean? Well, it means that Adam Robertson Elementary School in Creston will have an art journal program this year. Each child in the school will receive an art journal, and two qualified art instructors will do workshops with the kids, providing them with supplies and inspiration. I won't go into the details of the project, but it's actually REALLY cool.
The students' regular classroom teachers will then keep this art journal project alive throughout the year. Awesome. Regular art in the classroom. I love this! LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.
Thank you Mrs. McLean, for all your hard work on this. Teachers like you, ROCK THE PARTY!
