Keiryn brought home this guitar a few weeks ago from school. One of her teachers does woodshop with them and she chose to make this guitar. She drew the outline herself and her teacher helped her cut it out of wood. Cute.
Usually they paint the stuff at school but she knew that we could do a much cooler job at home (because she'd have more time) so she asked Mr. Smith if it would be okay to bring it home. She was so excited to show it to me and tell me that she wanted to paint it with Leopard print. That's my girl (the love for animal prints must run in the family)!
So... for family night this week, we chose her guitar as our project. First, we got out this...
And sprayed it gold...
We really should have sanded it first, but totally forgot. I'd make a horrible woodworker.
Once it was dry we drilled a hole in it (actually our friend Warren drilled a hole in it because we don't have a drill)...
Then, we started painting the spots, first copper, then black...
Of course blow drying in between coats was necessary because no one in this family has the patience to wait for anything to dry!

Then... we glued on the wire for the strings, and actually we used solder which is why we're wearing gloves (cause it's kinda poisonous) but it's all I had laying around...

And then everybody started acting really intense for some reason...
Once the glue was dry, we added the clock (which was what the hole was drilled for)... and I actually want to order a new clock that's bigger, and black, but whatever, this will do for now... Oh, and then we added tuning pegs using little cup hook things, but I forgot to take a picture of those....
And VOILA!
One leopard, totally radical, super cool, out of this world, guitar clock. It's going to look PERFECT in the soon-to-be finished, MUSIC ROOM! Thanks Keiryn for making such a rockin' clock! I absolutely love it.
