A local sawmill owner in Creston organized a spectacular Titanic Dinner Party the other night. Everyone that was invited was asked to dress in First Class Titanic dress. The night took place at Aldo & Co Restaurante Italiano here in Creston, and as you can imagine, the four course meal was to die for.
When we arrived, we were given our boarding passes at the door. If you click on the above image, you can read my bio. These were actual bios from people aboard the Titanic back in 1912. First of all I was ecstatic to be first class because that's probably the only time in my life that I will be ;) and secondly, I was delighted with my bio as her story is similar to my story. I guess I feel like I sort of know in some ways how she must have felt.

Here I am seated next to the former MLA for our area Blair Suffredine. He told me he used to wear this hat but hadn't dug it out in a good thirty years or so and had to clean the dust bunnies off it. Ha ha. I went the entire night telling everyone I was wearing my great grandmother's gloves and shawl, but then found out the next day that they were my mother's from the 70's. Ha. Whoops! I just love this photo though... to me it looks like we were really on the Titanic.
Anyway... the evening was fantastic and part of the fantastic-ness was that the organizer planned a silent auction filled with real and replica things from 1912. And guess what charity he chose to donate the proceeds to?
The Scholarship fund for Art Classes for Kids!
I know! Friggin' awesome. The night raised just over $1000 to sponsor kids that can't afford art classes. I'm so excited and thankful for this. There are going to be some very excited children out there.
Not only was it a great evening of food (thank you Aldo), costumes and conversation, but it also made the difference in the lives of many, many, children. And really, you can't do any better than that.
Amazing! Thank you Michael!
